Jaguar Land Rover India has added another performance packed SUV in the line-up with the name Range Rover Sport SVR.It is the fastest Range Rover ever built and is now available in India. The company says that it is available on a made-to-order basis and is priced at 2.03 crore.
Land Rover announced that the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR is the fastest SUV to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The Range Rover Sport SVR managed to lap the ‘Ring in 8 minutes and 14 seconds, which makes it the fastest SUV in the world around the Nurburgring.
Talking about its design, Range Rover Sport SVR is based on the Range Rover Sport but there are definitely few changes in the design. There is a new bumper too, that we spotted with an integrated diffuser. Then there are the enormous alloy wheels and a high-performance braking system too.
Inside the cabin, one can choose from four colour options for interiors, you can make the car sportier by choosing leather upholstery inside. One can also choose from a good seven colors including the exclusive Estoril Blue made for Range Rover Sport SVR.
The Range Rover Sport SVR gets a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that churns out 550bhp (40bhp more than the Supercharged Sport) and develops 680Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a sport-tuned 8-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system which enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-100Km/h in 4.5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 260.7Km/h.
The Range Rover Sport SVR has a re calibrated Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential. It locks earlier, and to an increased extent, to ensure torque is transferred to the rear wheel with most traction. One of the more interesting features for the mechanical working of the car is the Dynamic torque-vectoring. Then there is the dynamic stability control that comes into play for high speeds.
To make the ride safer, Range Rover has added Emergency Brake Assist, ABS, EBD, Electronic Traction Control and Roll Stability Control.
It is not just the engine alone that a car enthusiast looks at. We already know that when it comes to the best sounding car in the world, JLR’s F-type is second to no other and Range Rover Sport SVR will be producing the same effect with thundering noise. The car is built by the same Special Vehicle Operations that made Land Rover Sentinel, the first armored vehicle from the British brand.
Range Rover Sport SVR will be rivaling against Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and Mercedes ML63 AMG. What remains to be seen is whether the car will impress the Range Rover loyalist and add more to its pocket or turn out to be an expensive waste. What do you think?
