Jio is making all the news these days and with its immense popularity it can be really difficult to acquire a Jio SIM these days. One easy way to get a Jio SIM is to port your existing number into Jio. This is the method you have to follow to be able to do that:

1. Send an SMS “PORT” to 1900 from your existing phone number. This number is TRAI’s central number for mobile number portability. You will receive a port out code.

2. The go to PlayStore from your android device and download the ‘MyJio’ app. Use this app to generate a code for your device. (Only the listed 4G devices from Samsung, LG, Asus, Xiaomi etc can be used to generate a code from Google’s PlayStore)

Even if your device is unable to generate a code but is 4G capable, you can still get a Jio SIM.

3. Now go to any Jio , Reliance Digital Xpress, Reliance Digital Xpress mini, or prominent multi-brand Jio stores with the port out code and your Free Welcome Offer code. Carry along one passport size photo, valid address proof and original document of that address proof. Carrying your 4G device is optional though some stores mandate that you carry it along.

For address proof IDs like Voter Id Card, Passport, Aadhaar Card can be used.

Reliance promises to give free calling throughout India on any network even with its cheapest plans. Airtel and Vodafone have started revising their 4G plans to not lose any customers. Where as the latter already boasts a user base of 1.5 million users even before its launch. Idea is way behind in the 4G race but it would be interesting to see how Aditya Birla group will try to sustain this tsunami of a wave from Reliance. Whatever the case be, it is a win-win situation for the consumer as the mighty telcos fight it out. The telecom war has just begun!
