GM has showcased the Chevrolet Beat Activ and the Essentia at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Beat Activ, like the Essentia, shares the M300 platform with the current generation Chevrolet Beat. Again, General Motors’ Indian design team played a big part while developing this car. The Beat Activ concept is a crossover based hatchback that takes many design cues from the Chevrolet Beat. According to GM, the Activ is a “soft-roader” that gives an idea of where Chevrolet is heading in terms of design.

The exterior design bears quite a bit of resemblance to the current generation Beat. The front fasia, looks similar to the Essentia, while the rear end silhouettes the Beat, but with a more modern design that features sharper lines and new LED taillamps. Although this front end is still in its concept from, the production-spec version of the car will resemble the production-ready Essentia which they showcased here at the Auto Expo 2016. The car also gets body cladding all around to make it look like a crossover. The interior of the Beat Activ is finished with a dual tone colour scheme and the MyLink2 system like the Essentia. However, Chevrolet has given it a more sporty look.

Like the Essentia, we know that the Beat Activ will be launched in India only in 2017. We also know that the new Chevrolet Beat, which was unveiled recently, will not make it to India. Instead, the Essentia and Beat Activ will replace the current generation Beat. Although the Beat Activ is still in a concept form, knowing Chevrolet, we expect the production-ready car to look very similar.
