Blackberry launched the much awaited Blackberry Priv in India today. The device is Blackberry’s desperate attempt at a comeback as for the first time in its history, the company has ditched its own Blackberry OS and has opted to go with Android 5.1.1 for the Blackberry Priv.
The Blackberry Priv is a high end smartphone with dual curved display and a physical sliding keyboard (The 90’s are back?).
Coming to the display, the Blackberry Priv flashes a 5.4-inch dual-curved QHD AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels at 540 ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
On the hardware side, Blackberry Priv is powered by a Hexa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit processor coupled with 600 MHz Adreno 418 as GPU. The device flaunts 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. One could expand to a capacity of 2TB using microSD slot.
Coming to the cameras, Blackberry Priv features a Schneider-Kreuznach certified 18MP rear shooter with dual-tone LED Flash, OIS, PDAF, f/2.2 6P lens, 4K video recording, 6DOF video stabilization and 5MP front-facing camera, f/2.8 aperture, 1.7-micron pixel size.
Blackberry Priv runs on Android 5.1.1 out of the box and according to the company, will receive updates regularly.
The device also boasts ample connectivity options such as 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, NFC, USB 2.0 with Slimport. The Blackberry Priv encompasses a 3410mAh battery, which promises up to 22.5 hours battery life. The battery also has Quick Charge technology friendly.
