Nextbit is a startup, with former Apple and Google employees on the team, which had launched a cloud based smartphone in the US last year and is now ready to ship it in India. The exact launch date has not been announced yet but it is rumored to be by the end of April.

The Nextbit Robin is expected to be in the 25K-range as it was priced at roughly 26K in the US. The sleek design and the cloud based storage system will be its major highlights. The single sim smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch full HD Gorilla Glass 4 display. Robin runs on a hexacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 2GHz processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage which cannot be expanded. Instead, it gives you 100GB of online cloud storage where all your apps and photos are archived automatically. On the camera front, Robin offers a 13MP primary and 5MP secondary camera. It has a 2680mAh non removable battery and dual front-facing speakers with dual amplifiers. Other features include a fingerprint ID sensor, NFC, Quick Charge 2.0 and USB Type C among others. It will probably be available in mint and midnight colors.

Nextbit has unlocked the bootloader of the smartphone, which is an all new experiment. This means that you can use any custom Android ROM on the smartphone. So basically you have a “jailbroken” handset which will still have its warranty. All the great specs aside, the smartphone will face fierce competition as it appears to be a tad bit expensive considering the other flagship devices in its range. Nevertheless, we would love to see the clash!!
