From Feb 2016 onwards, stations of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will also work as terminals for e-commerce sites, with customers now having the option of getting products delivered at a few selected Metro stations so they can later collect them at their own convenience.
The new little arrangement has been made for those people who are working individuals and are living alone, thus are not home most of the time of the day to receive their online purchased goods. Now they can ask e-commerce websites to deliver these objects at a designated metro station from where they can collect them during travel.
Payment on delivery option (Like COD), using credit or debit cards will also be provided to the customers at the ‘Automated Parcel Delivery Terminals’ at 10 stations including those in Gurgaon and Noida, a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official has said.
These 10 chosen stations are MG Road, HUDA City Centre, Noida Sector 18, Laxmi Nagar, Vaishali, Nehru Place, Dwarka Sector 9, Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk and GTB Nagar.
Under the new and convenient arrangement, buyers can choose to get their goods delivered to one of these terminals while making their order. Those who will be going for this method will be sent a unique identity number (one-time password) via SMS and/or e-mail after confirmation of purchase. This password can be given at the designated parcel counter on the particular metro station and the goods shall be handled over to the buyer. DMRC authorities have declined from naming any e-commerce sites which will be participating in this arrangement.
