Gionee, The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has released an upgraded version of the Gionee Pioneer P5L smartphone from its pioneer series. Gionee first unveiled this smartphone in late 2014. The phone comes under the below 10,000 budget section and would cost you 8,499 from Gionee’s official website or any online shopping website.

The phone features a 4.7 inch 720p screen that puts about 208 pixels per inch. The processor is a Quad-core 1.3 GHz cortex A7 coupled with a Mali 400MP2 GPU and 1 Gigs of RAM. The device has a 8 Mega Pixel Primary camera on the back and a front shooter of 5 Megapixel. The primary camera is capable of taking 1080p videos. Gionee has provided 4G LTE and VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) feature, Which allows better call reception and clarity. This seems to be the only improvement over the 2-year-old model. The Gionee Pioneer P5L comes with 4.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with an amigo 3.1 Skin. It has an internal memory of 16 Gigs, from which you’ll be getting around 9 GB for apps and storage. You can expand the memory of the device to up to 128 GB through a MicroSD card. The device is powered by a 2,300 mAh Li-ion polymer battery pack that would provide you about 12 hours of VoLTE talk time and 275 hours of standby time on 4G LTE, it would be enough to last about half a day on a full charge while using 4G.

With Stiff competition from Mi and Lenovo that offer premium devices in the same budget, Gionee is trying hard to compete with the giants. The VoLTE feature in this price range might just be the right way about that. However, LTE support in India is still not in a very developed stage and so it might be interesting to see how this smartphone fares against the competition.

Stay tuned for more updates. Do you have anything to add to this article? Do you think VoLTE is a feature that might improve Gionee Pioneer P5L sales? Do let us know in the comments below.
