Google left everyone in shock when it announced the formation of it’s new parent company Alphabet in august this year. Alphabet’s new website has the domain name ABC.xyz as Alphabet.com was already taken up by car manufacturers BMW and other options like abc.com etc. were owned by other respected companies. To further protect it’s assets Google bought a very Alphabet-y but unusual domain name abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com.
The whois records for abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com show the domain was created in 1999, and was owned by an unknown private entity until it was sold to Google.
Alphabet hasn’t really started working on it’s website and as of now the link abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com leads to nowhere, in the future it is likely to be redirected to ABC.xyz
“We realized we missed a few letters in abc.xyz, so we’re just being thorough,”-Google spokesperson
If the reformation works properly Alphabet will probably become world’s largest tech company, buying this unsual domain name further displays Google’s determination in making Alphabet the huge success.
