Google has just wrapped up it’s annual Nexus event. Going on stage in San-Francisco, this year Google has announced not one but 2 nexus smartphones. The Nexus 6p and Nexus 5X. Google Nexus 6P is a slightly smaller but much better version of the last year’s Motorolla Nexus 6. This time the device is being manufactured by Huawei.
Nexus 6P is Google’s most premium nexus device ever. The main reason for this tag is the slick all-metal build of the phone and chamfered edges, it carries a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED display on the front along with two front facing speakers( hopefully stereo).
And it also has a fingerprint sensor placed strategically on the back of the device because Google thinks that this is the place where you will rest your finger while using the device. According to yesterday’s presentation the fingerprint sensor is amongst the fastest in the world and it should unlock your device in a record time of 600 milliseconds.
The real show stopper is the camera on the back of Google Nexus 6P.
Nexus devices are known to have bad camera quality and have proved this fact again and again but Google is set to change this with Nexus 6P. The device feature’s a 12.3-megapixel Sony sensor that features larger pixels than what you’ll find on most smartphones, including the iPhone. That should allow the phone to take better photos in low-light. The camera is apparently optimized for indoor photography and is capable of shooting slow-motion videos, 4K videos and take burst shots.
Google Nexus 6P will support USB type C connector, the one found on OnePlus 2, but this one supports fast-charge and according to Google it should charge twice as fast as an iPhone 6S+. Also with Android Marshmellow rolling out, it will officially bring support for USB type C for all future Android devices.
Other specs include a whopping 3450mAh battery, a Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM. This combination of specs make it a pretty tightly packed package.
Pre-orders have started in the United States and device shipments will be beginning in late October. Pricing starts at $499 for a 32GB model, and rises up to $549 for a 64GB model and $649 for a 128GB model. It’ll be available in white, silver, and black. It has already been listed on the Indian Play Store and the status is “COMING SOON”. The expected price for this device will be somewhere around 35-38,000 Indian Rupees.
Google has taken a very bold step by collaborating with a Chinese manufacturer ( Huawei ). This has resulted in a very fresh design and innovative design of the Google Nexus 6P, also it will benefit Huawei, which is struggling to enter the US borders and increase sale at an international level. In the long run, this move should help Google establish it’s network in the extremely competitive Chinese Market.
