Sony has announced the re branding of its Xperia range of smart phones with Xperia X series in the Mobile World Congress 2016 held in Barcelona. The company lifted the curtain on three of the smart phones under this series, The Xperia X, Xperia X Performance, and Xperia XA.

All the three smart phones will be available in White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold colors. The phones are said to have a dual tone body so that the front of the phone would have the same color as the back. The phone would also be released with a range of phone covers featuring a variety of colors. All phones would come out with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s User Interface. Xperia X and Xperia X Performance features a 5-inch Full HD triluminous display powered by X-Reality, and a 23 Mega Pixel f1/2.3 Exmor sensor Back Camera and a 13 Mega Pixel front camera for selfies. The phones have a predictive hybrid autofocus that would allow users to lock the focus on a specific target and the phone would adapt the focus of the camera if the target is in motion. The cameras are definitely good in both the devices and coming from Sony our expectations are also high. Both phones have 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage with expandable memory of upto 200 GB.

Sony Xperia X Performance features Snapdragon 820 for the users that require more processing power from their phones than that provided by the Snapdragon 650 Soc of Xperia X. Xperia X packs 2620 mAh battery pack while the X performance packs 2700 mAh, the phones would last around 2 days as claimed by the company however it does seem like a tall claim owing to the power required by 820 chipset.

Sony Xperia XA is a different story altogether the phone comes with a MediaTek MT6755 processor coupled with 2 Gigabytes of RAM and 16 GB internal Storage (Expandable up to 200 GB with micro-SD card). The phone has a 13 Mega Pixel back camera and 8 Mega pixel front shooter backed by a 2,300 mAh battery pack. The phone would probably target the budget section of smartphones.

The phones would be available for purchase in Summer 2016 and the prices would be revealed along with sales announcement. Sony came to the MWC with its Xperia X series and it has recieved some positive response, of course how the phone would perform in the market can only be predicted by the pricing and the real-time performance of the phones.
