The Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 Di VC USD and the SP 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD lenses are the latest in Tamron’s addition to its full-frame lenses for their SP Series of DSLR optics. Tamron also released the TAP-in Console accessory that allows users to update the firmware and customize lens operation for select lenses.

Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 Di VC USD lens

The Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 is the world’s first 85mm lens with VC for full-frame DSLR cameras. Thanks to this Vibration Compensation- enabled lens, the user can take sharp and vivid photos even in dim lighting conditions. It provides upto 3.5 stops of image stabilization. The Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 lens features 13 elements in 9 groups, two of which are low dispersion (LD) elements and one extra low dispersion (XLD). It also has an electromagnetic diaphragm, thus there is no physical aperture on the back of the lens. It weighs 24.7 ounces for the Canon variant and 23.3 for the Nikon. The lens is condensation and smudging proof thanks to a moisture-resistant construction and flourine coating applied to the lens’ topmost element. The Tamron SP 85mm is compatible with the TAP-in Console and using Tamron’s Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) autofocus system, the 85mm f/1.8 offers fast and accurate autofocus. The lens is priced at Rs 64,500 in India.

Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD lens

The Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 is the latest addition to the classic Tamron 90mm macro lens series. Comprising of one LD and two XLD elements, the 14 elements in 11 groups macro lens delivers great performance across its focusing range by adopting a floating system, which ensures that the elements are always ideally positioned. The lens has improved bokeh performance and ensures the best possible performance. The Tamron SP 90mm provides upto 3.5 stops of image stabilization from macro to infinity. The lens has an improved autofocus speed and accuracy, particularly at macro. Other features include an integrated accelerometer, improved Vibration Compensator, a focus limiter and an internal focusing to keep the focus distance and the lens constant. The Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 is also compatible with the TAP-in Console accessory. Currently its only available for Canon and Nikon  mounts, but will soon be available for Sony mounts as well. The lens is priced at Rs 54,000 in India.
