When NVIDIA announced their Maxwell Architecture, I personally was looking forward to the Nvidia GTX 950. This card comes in a well-balanced package of price vs performance from Nvidia. We see everyone taking about 4K nowadays and going crazy about it. What most gamers game on is still 1080p Monitors, and this card does 1080p perfectly. What I have with me is a card from INNO 3D sold by Creative Peripherals in India and this is the INNO 3D GTX 960 Review.
The Inno 3D GTX 950 comes in a standard looking box, unlike many other brands there are no fancy artworks or graphics on the box. Opening up the box, you will find Inno3d instruction manual that tell you how to install the GPU in you case and an NVIDIA driver disk. Packed nicely inside is the INNO 3D GXT 950. On first looks, the card looks awesome with its dual fan design and silver black and red colour scheme.
At the front of the card, there is a metal frame that covers the fans as well as the heat sink. This frame only looks solid, but rather you can easily bend it if you apply pressure. Underneath the metal frame there are these red plastic things which are they’re only for the looks of the GPU, they also lock with the metal frame so to remove it you have to pull the frame apart from these.
Taking a look at the fans of INNO 3D GTX 950, there are two fans that come with the INNO’S HerculeZ Bearing which allows 24×7 operations with low noise and a dust proof design. This in all extends the lifespan and makes them 3 times more durable. Now Inno has made everything modular so you can easily remove the fans and the frame to clear you GPU.
The unit we received had a problem and its fans were not working, on closer inspection we saw that the Fan Headers were broken and the cable was removed. To plug the cable back in we have to take out the whole front of the card. INNO have made it pretty simple, all you need is an Alen key and you are good to go.
There are in total 3 ports on the back of the GPU and you can plug up to 3 active monitors using it. INNO have included a Dual Link DVI, an HDMI 2.0 port and a full-size Display port V 1.2. Now you can have a max Digital Resolution of 5120X3200 with this card and a VGA Resolution of 2048 X 1536.
- CUDA Cores 768
- Graphics Clock-Base Clock (MHz) 1140
- Boost Clock (MHz) 1329
- Memory Clock (MHz) 6.8Gbps
- Standard Memory Config (MB) 2048
- Memory Interface GDDR5
- Memory Interface Width 128-bit
- Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 108.8
There are a number of feature that comes with the card. as this is a Maxwell card it is designed to deliver performance with great power efficiency. The GTX 950 supports advanced sampling and Dynamic Super Resolution which can give you the experience of 4K Gaming even on a 1080p display.Multi-Frame sampled Anti-Aliasing or MFAA delivers a 30% performance boost while maintaining smooth, high-quality edges by alternating sample calculations across each frame and each pixel. The card also supports NVIDIA GameStream that allows you to play or stream your PC games on a Nvidia Shield, allowing you to play from anywhere in your house. Other Technology that the card supports are as follow – Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR), Voxel Global Illumination (VXGI), GeForce Experience, NVIDIA ShadowPlay, NVIDIA GameStream, NVIDIA G-SYNC, NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0, NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync and NVIDIA SLI Technology
We tested the card on a system running Intel Core i5 2500K with 32GB G-Skill Ripjaw X on an MSI Z68 GD65 Motherboard. All the test were done with no overclocking of the Intel CPU or the Ram sticks. If you have an older generation card let say a Nvidia GTX 650 or 750 you will see performance gains with this card. The INNO GTX 750 has 768 Cuda core with a Base Clock speed of 1140 MHZ and a Boost Clock speed of 1329 MHz. The Memory has a clock of 6.8 Gbps which is the standard GDDR5 memory.
One of the main advantages of new Maxwell cards is the support for DirectX 12 and built-in HEVC encoder as well as a decoder. Though there are not many games that can run on Direct X 12 right now, but knowing that the card will support is a good investment of money. The card is priced in at 14495 INR which is a great price for the buyers.
We ran many games on this card and it handled it like a charm. If you play MMORPG or MOBA the can easily get way over 60 FPS with this card. Games like GTA 5 ran perfectly on 60 plus FPS on this at 1080p with Console-Grade setting and FXAA. See benchmarks our bellow
*The frame-rate on Dota 2 was locked to 120 FPS
The INNO 3D GTX 950 does a great job in providing performance for medium to high setting. The card retails for around 14500 INR which makes is easy for anyone to buy this card. It’s way less cheap than the Nvidia GTX 960 which has just 15 percent performance gain over this card. If you are gaming at 1080p and want a Nvidia card without hurting you wallet then this is the way to go. The VRAM of the card could have been increased to 3GB or more just like some of AMD cards. This would allow the card to last even much longer and support higher resolutions.
